Three of my Favourite Beaches

I’m always shocked when people I meet say they don’t like to go to the beach. Are you kidding me? Why not?! Even if you don’t like being in the sun, doesn’t the sound of the waves bring you peace?  It sure does for me!

From my travels so far, here are three of my favourite beaches:

Seven Mile Beach in Negril, Jamaica

I’m sure that no one is surprised that a beach in Jamaica is on the top of my list. My favourite place in the world that I call my second home…sweet sweet Jamaica. Although I usually stay a little ways outside of Montego Bay, a trip to Seven Mile Beach is always a great time.  It was once controlled by pirates but now it is frequented by many tourists and even some who prefer to sunbathe without suites…if you know what I mean (FYI to families with children). The sand is silky and the water is blue also making it a paradise for sunset dining.  Learn more about Seven Mile beach and six others in Jamaica here.

Varadero Beach in Varadero, Cuba

This spur of the moment getaway is one of the best I’ve ever had! After hearing a number of mixed reviews, I wasn’t in any rush to visit Cuba. However; when I was able to snag a great deal to go with a friend, I said why not, let me get a taste of this place. WELL, now I can’t wait to go back! Varadero Beach is an oasis. Some of the softest sand I’ve ever felt and the clearest water I’ve ever seen. We pretty much spent most of the six day vacation on the beach and I have ZERO regrets. Plus I got a pretty nice tan to show for it.  The Cuban people we met were very kind and the food in my opinion wasn’t much different than any other all-inclusive resort that I’ve been to. Although I love me a good beach vacation, the next time I go to Cuba, I’m going to make sure to explore more of the history in Havana and add in a few Varadero beach days with WestJet Vacations.

Magens Bay in St. Thomas, US Virgin Islands

I wish when I went here I was a swimmer because the snorkeling here is a must. The water was calm and clear and lush greenery surrounds you.  We could have spent all day relaxing in the water and soaking in the sun, but we were only there for a port stop. One thing I saw here that I haven’t seen elsewhere were BIG iguanas. They didn’t come close to you but you could go near enough to take a picture of them. From our stop here I got a sample of the beauty of St.Thomas and only has increased my desire to go back and spend more time exploring.

I will never get tired of visiting more beaches that this gorgeous planet has to offer us and I can only pray that us humans wake up and do what we can to protect them. I look forward to being able to visit ones on continents I have yet to visit like Africa, Australia and South America.

Are you a beach lover? If so, I’d love to hear which ones you could go to over and over!
