1. Parks & Trails
Maybe it’s only a 20 minute drive away, but if there’s a beautiful area of greenspace, make it a mini daycation! Pack a picnic basket, blanket, good book (or audio book) and a pair of good walking shoes. Leave the distractions (husband, kids – or maybe just your phone) and focus on savouring the day, your surroundings and whatever activity you don’t usually have much time for.
2. Grab Your Gals or Guys
You’re never too old for a sleepover! Get your favorite peeps scheduled and plan a night out at a local hotel or resort. Search for one that has a nice pool or hot tub and call it a party. It will give you time to relax, reconnect and even get some gut busting laughs as you all relieve the “good ol’ days”.
3. What’s in the City
Especially at this time a year, most towns or cities have special events like festivals, outdoor concerts or movies, fairs, and so much more. Sometimes we get so focused on getting OUT of town that we forget that there can be fun things to do IN town. Most places have a local events calendar that will have a listing of events that you could be missing out on.
4. Road Trippin’
You got a car, bicycle or bus fare and no plan – but it involves hitting the road. Why not do a quick search of what cozy vacation rentals, resorts or camping sites are a few hours away? Depending on your accommodation style (I’m not one for camping in a tent LOL), a weekend away could be pretty minimal in cost and may just give you the break your mind & body crave. I’m actually trying to do more of these since they sometimes don’t involve a ton of planning AND I feel so refreshed even after a couple of days. Open up Google maps and see what’s within your reach and check out other travelers reviews.
5. Relaxing Retreat
You don’t have to feel alone because there are a ton of other people who feel just like you! There’s such a huge demand for spaces and settings that give seekers the reset the need. Do a local search online or ask around to see if there are any day or weekend retreats happening in your area. From art, wellness and writing, find a retreat that involves an activity that brings you joy. It could even be napping (who doesn’t love napping?!).
Although it may seem that you’re all out of choices, there may just be one that can work for you and your circumstance that gives you time away. We can only go for so long in the rat race or monotonous routine before we hit a wall. The goal is to try and do something about it before you do OR if you haven’t yet, make that choice now. Even if you don’t like any of the suggestions above, I do hope they have at least triggered you into action by finding something you want to do. BUT don’t stop there – book it too. You deserve it!
If you have or have a plan set up, I’d love to hear about it. Please comment below and let us know.
Lots of love and joy to you!
